Chartering a Bareboat Yacht? International Bareboat Skipper is the Qualification you Need.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take command of a chartered yacht with your family or friends in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, Mediterranean, South Pacific or the Whitsunday Islands? If so, then the IYT International Bareboat Skipper qualification is the one for you. This qualification will allow you to safely and comfortably take command of a recreational vessel < 24m (power or sail), in daylight hours, in sight of land and in fair weather.

Some European countries may require an International Certificate of Competency (ICC) for chartering. It is generally required for the inland and coastal waters of Mediterranean countries. In Northern Europe and Scandinavia the ICC is generally not required, but it is strongly advised you check with any European, Scandinavian, or Eastern European country that you wish to charter in before you leave. If you complete the IYT Bareboat Skipper Course with an IYT partner school approved to certify to ICC level, you qualify for obtaining our ICC Certification provided you have trained with an IYT partner school approved to offer the ICC.

Please read this article to ensure you meet the requirements under the UNECE Resolution 40.
