Learn how to be Certified
There are three main choices for yacht training; Recreational, Crew and Professional. For recreational certificates you will need to preform the following:
IYT has over 250 partner schools in 56 different countries worldwide that can offer you the necessary training to confidentially command a recreational vessel for either bareboat chartering or enjoying offshore passage making or island hopping in the comfort of your own vessel. With such a diverse range of international locations, students can take their IYT courses in a wide variety of destinations while constantly increasing their ‘depth of knowledge” as one moves up through the various levels of IYT certification. A combination of IYT theory, eLearning and practical IYT training courses can take you from absolute beginner to the Captain of a 200 Ton internationally recognised Superyacht qualification. No other company offers such a comprehensive range of internationally recognised nautical training courses which can be taken in a modular format.
Becoming certified for recreational yachting requires basic skills and safety procedures for crew and skipper. These include;
- Dinghy Sailing (ICC)
- International Crew
- International Bareboat Skipper
- VHF Radio Operator
- International Certificate of Competency (ICC)
- Yachtsman Coastal
- Yachtsman Offshore
- Yachtsman Ocean
- Small Powerboat & RIB Master
In addition to the essential courses IYT also offers additional recreational courses like Weather Master, Navigation Master, Power Boat Master and Personal Watercraft Operations, for those who wish to increase their knowledge in specific areas and obtain a recreational certificate.
