Introduction to Yacht Marine Engineering

The five to ten-day IYT Introduction to Yacht Engineering is highly recommended to equip marine professionals from the merchant navy and cruise ship industry with the necessary skills and knowledge required to work effectively in the superyacht industry. It provides a comprehensive understanding of yachts and their water toys. This course is intended to bridge the gap between traditional maritime roles and those specific to yachting. It comprises both theory and practical elements.

This course has been developed in conjunction with International Yacht Training and the Superyacht Academy in Asia & Pacific. This is a certificate of competency for seafarers holding valid STCW Marine Engineering CoCs shifting to the yachting industry. The course includes an introduction to safely operating small powerboats, rigid inflatable boats (RIBS), and personal watercrafts (PWCs) and modules from the Superyacht Deck Crew Course in order to better understand the yachting industry.

The recommended minimum age to obtain this certification is 18.  Candidates need also hold an STCW Marine Engineering Officer or rating CoC.

Upon successful completion, candidates will receive three certificates: IYT Introduction to Yachting Marine Engineering, IYT Small Powerboat and RIB Master, and IYT Personal Watercraft Operations.
