Consequences of Not Having a Carbon Monoxide Alarm Onboard
The following Marine Accident Investigation Branch, April 2021, Accident Report has been forwarded to us by an IYT advisor/auditor who is also a 3000GT Master. We thought it important to share on our news page and social media as the consequences of not having a carbon monoxide alarm on board a vessel can be deadly.
IYT implores all partner schools to make sure there is a carbon monoxide alarm on vessels they use for training to avoid loss of life and to protect you and your candidates. And, of course, we advise all boat owners to install a carbon monoxide alarm on their vessels. They are relatively inexpensive and can save lives.
